Kat's Sandpo

I'd like to know about Kat's technique.  I imagine her on the beach rolling sand  and paint... Thank you Kat, love the contrast of the sides of the postcard!

Theresa is zining!

Theresa wrote me in response to an off-line conversation. theresa writes that this Zine #1 is "The Miraculous Birth" One of the rectangles features a letter she has written to Simon Warren.

Jon Foster sends a superb tape transfer

Junque and actual art from DK

As far as I can remember, this is my first DK envelope full of goodies to arrive. The first thing I notice is that I might be able to find some titles for my fused plastic in Diane's mailing... ' match only found in fairytales'.  None of my plastic looks like that, but I could make a bespoke piece to match the name. Great titles to be found in this envelope. The photo of Gail Borden makes me smile.
It easy to see the art through the 'junque' Diane.  I like the spelling of 'junque', it elevates the recycling to something exotic.  I need to think about that for DK Suffolk, branding is everything!

Great to have a fragment of Dustin's envelope.  I need to send him something.  That felt book is pretty fantastic. I love the way Diane has cut the chiclets wrapper, if she did, 'ppermint' is a fabulous word and I let the VISPO wash over me! Appreciate the pastel green alliteration and emergent dyslexic writing.  I recognise it.  My son still writes that way. That pink list is a colour study in itself.

Congratulations to Riley and Brieanna for their  enlightened posters! Definately art!

Credit card slip, possibly an early antique.

About the add and pass, I am all over it!  I've been waiting.

Easter paper dyeing - not quite tie-dye but definately art. Still waiting for DK's paper tie-dye!

And the returned laminated trashpo - I am visually excited.  i love the sounds 'ashioned, ashion s where' I believe it may be an early trash square, or rectangle, the foundations of the trash quilt, for sure!

Thank you Diane.

Vizma finds lost mail and it's for me!

Vizma's envelope is not only attractive, it is also instructive.  Did you know that rats help their blind mates?

I sent visma a bit of plastic and a stamp motif postcard.  In superb DKULT style, Vizma photocopied and shared these with me, and possibly others. I am honoured! Viz also added a carefully chosen initial to the stamps,  'G' for Guyver, G for 'go' ...

On the inside of the envelope I found the question, 'who's afraid of spiders?'  I put my hand up.  I am very afraid of spiders. I can co-exist with them,  I can ignore the spider in the outdoor shower.  But I am afraid of them! Figgy got a spider bite a few years ago and a welt grew and oozed and eventually we took her to the emergency room and they told it was a brown recluse bite.  She took her antibiotics carefully.  Spiders... EEK.

 I love the lines,
'is becom-a disaster both
romanti-artistically.'
The whole thing reminds me of Madmen.

I am delighted about my trash-politzer!
Thank you Viz!

Guido Vermeulen's Friour Editions 2013: Moon Faces 4

Delighted to receive Guido's moon faces, images that I have been delighting from as they have appeared at IUOMA.
Guido's hand-painted envelope: Facing my own tears in the Mirror X24!
Love the stamp which looks like a Vermeulen collage. And the way the three greens, the butterfly, and the two larger paint daubs  (and the splatters) exist in perfect harmony.  The following are the images that leapt out at me this time.  There are 48 all together!  Thank you Guido.

Living Fantasies: The Party's Never Over - a boekie just for Rebecca of Cranberry Island (Carina Granlund)

Carina's timing is unbelievable!  OK, so anyone would appreciate a travel envelope from Carina, at any time, but only someone who has traveled recently on just about every kind of transportation - well not a pencil or a caterpillar , Carina where do you think those things up?  But really, there isn't anyone who would more of a kick than I got out of Carina's silly, striking envelope!

Inside the envelope, Carina had packaged the remarkable LIVING FANTASIES inside more paper.  Notice the blackened tooth and the repair work Carina envisages I return to.

Inspite of the drudgery Carina anticipates, her upturned motor boat makes the optimist in me smile, 'Give future me a hug.'

Clearly Carina is an optimist!  I know she's got an upcoming show to prepare for, but somehow she finds time to make me a boekie to share with my students.  I presume the only thing better than having Carina work with students is to have one of her books to share with them! Go and visit her blog to see what I mean! http://www.carinagranlund.com
The teachers I'm working with are young newly employed teachers and the school is apparently quite target driven, so I hope I can flick through these pages and not get taken to the front desk to show my CRB (the form that verifies that you are OK to work with children)...
Oh Carina, thank the man with the dumb bells! The poetry in the margins is fun to try to say, too.  I'll bet the fellow with the hat has a very unusual accent.

Something x-rated that has been concealed... (thank you)
Silliness,
wordplay,

more of my kind of humour,

and a question... I always get the kids to put some questions in their books! This is a real teaching aid.

See they're already reading and getting gold stars to show their dads.

Thank you Carina for making the R portrait so attractive.  The last time I went into a school the children were obsessed with asking me how old I was (I hadn't slept much the night before), maybe this will trick them into seeing me in a new light!
and how did you know we have that same houseboat/shed on Cranberry Island?
Luckily it only has a climbing hydrangea on the roof!

This is a wonderful unfolding piece that goes in surprising directions.  Guy in the funky sweater likes me too.

But this is the page that made me laught the hardest...

And yes, the car did break down and it rained and rained.

Carina's book has a great sandpapery texture.  I wonder if it's clear gesso, one of my favourite finishes. But wait, the spiders are coming, or are they fish hooks?  Whatever they are, they complete a magical, hilarious book that was made just for me!

Lyra and I are delighted and the students will be too!  Thank you all the way from Elberon New Jersey?
